Recognising and treating scabies
How can I recognize scabies?
You can recognize scabies by itching that continues to get worse, and by little red lumps or flaky skin. Especially on your palms, between your fingers, on your wrists, elbows, feet and genitals.
Make an appointment with your GP
Always contact us when you think you have scabies. Scabies (‘the itch’) is a contagious skin disease, caused by the scabies mite. Scabies does not go away on its own. Always get treatment! And keep in mind that everyone around you who may also have caught scabies must be treated at the same time as you.
Treatment
Scabies is treated by putting on permethrin cream or taking ivermectin tablets. Always follow the advice of your GP.
